High School Reunion

Magkaklase sila noong high school, batch 1965 ng St. Joseph Academy sa Aklan. Ngayon, narito sila sa Amerika, dalawa sa Chicago, isa (yung sa gitna) sa California. Nagtipon-tipin sila makailan lang sa isang suburbs ng Chicago. Nag-te-txt sila sa isa pa nilang a kaklase sa North Carolina noong kinunan ko ng litrato. Tulad ng maraming Pilipinong saan mang sulok ng mundo napadpad, nakatali pa rin sila sa isa’t isa, hindi lang dahil sila’y Pilipino kundi dahil sila’y magkabarkada noong haiskul. Ang taling ito ay hindi madaling ihungkag.

They were classmates in high school, batch 1965 of St. Joseph Academy in Aklan. Now, they’re here in the US, two of them in Chicago, and one (in the middle) in California. Their batch (there are a few of them) had a small reunion here in one of the burbs in Chicago. They’re txting another classmate of theirs (who is N. Carolina) when I took this picture. Like many Filipinos scattered around the world, they are tied to each other, not because they are from the Philippines, but because they were close friends in high school. This kind of ties are hard to loosen.
